Spa Day brings another level of healing to the girls who attend Angel Faces. Many of the girls have never experienced the joy of a facial, massage, manicure, pedicure, or sitting down with a stylist to explore a new hairstyle. The reason is that when you have a facial disfigurement it's difficult to get up the courage to go to an esthetician and surrender to the treatment, where your face will be fully exposed and under close scrutiny. Treatments are not only expensive, but often come with a barrage of unwanted questions – it's hard to break through the familiar behavior of hiding, or not drawing attention to your face – let alone expose it to a stranger – even for a loving touch. Angel Faces Spa Day provides a healing safe environment to help change that fear to trust.

Many of the girls have never experienced the healing touch of a full body massage by a trained professional who has the skill and background for attending to injured bodies. Typically the girls have only been touched by medical personnel in a clinical environment, and often a painful environment, where necessary reconstructive surgeries took place. A great number of the girls have been scarred by severe injuries, so having someone look at their bodies, touch their bodies, is a huge hurdle to overcome. The surrender is powerful. The spa rooms at Angel Faces are private, safe and bring a nurturing environment.

Stacy, age 18 and burned in a house fire over 50% of her body, shares this thought: "At the retreat I was given a facial and a massage for the first time in my life, and I really enjoyed it! I felt special and didn't have to worry about what the person giving me the massage might think of my scarred body."

Hair Styles

We have a team of professional hair stylists who come up to Angel Faces during Spa Day to volunteer their talents and treat the girls to complete hair makeovers!

At the close of Spa Day when the girls apply all the techniques they have learned throughout the retreat, including how to apply their own corrective cosmetics, their personal growth and self respect quickly surfaces.

It's common to see the shedding of tears when they look in the mirror after their makeovers! "Oh My Gosh . . . You look so beautiful," cried one girl to another.
